Sri Chinmoy

According to science, we can imagine the Earth’s entire history as lasting 24 hours. In which case, human history only begins at 11:58:43pm. Although people like you and I have been around for 300,000 years, in this analogy that span of time lasts 77 seconds!

Therefore, whether we began our meditation-journey thirty years ago, three weeks ago or are right now beginning is not as significant as the fact we have begun to travel on the road of spirituality.

Meditation is our key to spirituality because it unlocks the heart-door and inside the heart we find the soul which is waiting to fulfil our ultimate longings.

Meditation shows us how to recognise the heart-divine and strengthen this most precious instrument, then it introduces us to our soul, welcomes us to embrace the soul and finally establishes the soul as our life’s commander.

With persistence our existence eventually proclaims, “Onwards, onwards, onwards, onwards evermore.”

In his ever-humble fashion, when Sri Chinmoy visited Adelaide in 1976 and gave a talk on Spirituality in the Brougham Place Uniting Church he shared the following:

Spirituality is not impatient. The seeker has to know that he cannot realise the transcendental Truth overnight. There is no short cut. It takes time and it demands constant effort. The seeker walks along Eternity’s road and, when he reaches his destination, he finds that it is now only his starting point. Each time he reaches his destination, that destination becomes the starting point for a higher destination.
